OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Department of Natural Resources is lifting its temporary statewide shooting ban.
The ban was put in place in August to minimize the number of fires started as the Pacific Northwest witnessed a devastating wildfire season.
The DNR is now lifting the ban due to recent rainfall and decreasing risk of large fires.
DNR staff are heading out to recreation areas across the state to remove signs and open gates.
The agency asks people to remain patient as that process could take several days.
