BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham man suspected of possessing illegal drugs tried everything to resist arrest, including wrestling a police K9.

Keith Jerome McMath was wanted on charges related to the possession of methamphetamine after he was seen handling drugs in his car in the Walmart parking lot in August.

Bellingham Police officers caught up with the suspect Thursday in the parking lot of the Bellis Inn where they approached him and told him he was under arrest.

McMath took off on foot and was tracked by a K9 Team, but when they found him, he continued to resist arrest.

He reportedly tried to strangle the K9, rolling his body weight on top of it.

McMath was quickly taken into custody and the dog was not hurt.
