BLAINE, Wash. — A draft 2021 budget for the City of Blaine would cut expenses and maintain current staffing levels.
The Northern Light reports the city council requested a 7.6% cut to spending for next year, compared to the amended 2020 budget.
City Manager Michael Jones said there will be more reductions in service levels if the budget is approved.
The budget as drafted would make cuts to the Blaine Senior Center and Boys and Girls Club, in addition to travel, training, and supplies expenses, and leaving some open positions unfilled, or staffed by half-timers.
The council will vote on the budget December 14.
