OLYMPIA, Wash. — First time unemployment claims in Washington are still trending downward, but at a slower pace.
Last week’s nearly 17,000 initial claims contributed to a 4-week average of roughly 18 thousand per week.
That’s lower than the approximate 19 thousand weekly average for the prior month, but still about double the number compared to the same period a year ago.
Hardest hit industries continue to be construction, hospitality, and manufacturing.
