BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Police found evidence of a major drug trafficking scheme during a recent traffic stop in Bellingham.

Lieutenant Claudia Murphy reports police stopped a driver for speeding on Sunday, October 18, and recognized the passenger, later identified as 35-year-old Daniel Faix, from several past incidents.

The driver had a suspended license and Faix had a DUI warrant.

While searching around the car, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office K9 Elliot alerted to the presence of narcotics odor and the two suspects were detained for drug investigation.

Officers searched Faix and a bag he left in the car and found a number of illegal drugs, including an estimated $6,000 worth of suspected Fentanyl pills, $5,000 worth of Heroin and $200 worth of meth.

They also found digital scales, packaging materials and over $1,000 cash.
