BELLINGHAM, Wash. — It’s election day.

Ballots can still be deposited at one of 21 Whatcom County drop box locations, which are listed at whatcomcounty.us.

Drop boxes close at 8pm tonight.

Voters can still register and get a ballot in-person at the county auditor’s office today, with masking and distancing required.

Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by today.

Ballots are not tabulated by counties until after the voting period closes at 8 PM.

Then, the Secretary of State has until Dec. 3 to certify the 2020 General Election returns as counting is completed.

At this time, county election officials estimate the results released on election night will account for as much as 60% of the state’s ballots expected for this year’s election.

As of Monday, the Whatcom County Auditor’s office reports receiving ballots from nearly 79% of registered voters in the county; statewide, the number is 73%.
