BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office released another vote count Wednesday evening.

Closely watched local races include both positions for 42nd District State Representative.

Democrats Sharon Shewmake and Alicia Rule have slight leads in those races.

42nd District Republican Representative Luanne Van Werven posted to Facebook that she has called her opponent Alicia Rule to congratulate her on her apparent win in the position 1 race.

Likewise, Jennifer Sefzik posted she has conceded the 42nd District position 2 race.

The contest for Whatcom Superior Court Judge Position 2 is a close call, with Evan Jones leading opponent James Erb by just over 2,000 votes.

In state elections, Republican incumbent Kim Wyman has pulled ahead in the Secretary of State race.
