LYNDEN, Wash. — A pedestrian was hit by a minivan Thursday night on Birch Bay-Lynden Road at Percie Road in Custer, and died at the scene.
The State Patrol says Monte Nieuwendorp, a 60 year old Bellingham man, was walking in the traffic lane eastbound toward I-5 about a half mile west of the interstate at about 8pm.
That’s when when he was hit by a minivan driven by George N Bennett of Blaine.
Troopers say intoxication was *not* a factor and no charges are pending.
