BLAINE, Wash. — A Blaine woman has been charged with attempted murder after she reportedly threatened her neighbor with a hunting knife.

At about 6 a.m. Thursday, Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence in the 4700 block of Birch Bay-Lynden Road.

The victim explained that as she left her house to go to work, her neighbor, 64-year-old Kathy Anderson, charged at her with a hunting knife and repeatedly threatened to kill her.

The victim defended herself with a lawn chair, got inside her car and, after a struggle, was able to flee and call 911.

The Sheriff’s Office reports there is a documented history of Anderson harassing and threatening the victim.
