SEATTLE, Wash. — A new bill would protect employees who complain about workplace coronavirus handling.

KIRO reports some people who have complained about COVID handling on the job have lost their jobs

Dr. Ming Lin, a ER doctor at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, lost his job after publicly voicing concerns early in the pandemic.

Democratic State senator Karen Keiser hopes to put protections into law for whistleblowers with the Health Emergency Labor Standards Act, or HELSA.

The new bill, to be brought in the January legislative session, would fine employers who retaliate or discriminate against employees who raise “reasonable” concerns.
