TORONTO, Canada — A pipeline that has been the target of Washington state protests is in the cross hairs of the incoming Biden administration.
CTV reports a source close to the Biden transition teams says Joe Biden plans to cancel the $9 billion Keystone XL pipeline permit as one of his first acts in office.
The source said the words ‘Rescind Keystone XL pipeline permit’ appear on a list of executive actions likely scheduled for the first day of Biden’s presidency.
President Trump had made building the pipeline a central promise of his campaign in 2016.
The Alberta to Nebraska pipeline has drawn the ire of protestors on both sides of the border.
In 2017, police arrested pipeline protestors at Seattle JPMorgan Chase bank locations in Seattle.
The Seattle City Council passed a resolution against the pipeline in April of that year.
