BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Healthcare providers in Whatcom County are reporting crashed phone lines after fielding thousands of calls concerning COVID-19 vaccines.
Whatcom County Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach said more than 42,000 people became eligible for vaccination on Monday but there are only 1,000 more doses coming to providers this week.
Anyone calling vaccine providers for information on the vaccination can expect to wait for several hours, if they’re able to get through to anyone at all.
People in Phase IB Tier 1 are asked to wait for their provider to contact them with further information.
Vaccine providers and the health department will provide more information about how to get vaccinated as our community gets more vaccine.
