OLYMPIA, Wash. — A state commission will decide this week whether Navy Seals can resume training at some coastal state parks including Deception Pass.
The Navy’s contract to conduct training at six state parks expired last year.
The Seattle Times reports the State Parks and Recreation Commission will decide on Thursday whether to expand that to 28 parks.
The Navy says the training involves Seal teams coming ashore undetected, observing other service members and then slipping away.
Some people have opposed the training, calling it a militarization of our state parks.
