BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Following the action to end the homeless encampment at City Hall, some residents and volunteers set up an encampment at the Civic Athletic Complex.
The City of Bellingham Tuesday gave the camp notice to vacate.
The notice gives residents and volunteers until 4pm Friday to remove belongings and vacate the Geri Field lower parking lot.
On a web page addressing tent encampment and emergency winter shelter needs, the City said it did not sanction the new camp and did not assist in its creation, adding that overnight camping in City parks is prohibited by municipal code without a permit.
The City is working with Whatcom County and other partners on both short-and-long-term solutions.
