ANACORTES, Wash. — Restoration work on the Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges is set to continue.
The state Department of Transportation announced that a new contractor will begin the final phase of preservation work on these historic bridges next week.
The project began in 2019 but the cold wet winter recently put the work on hold.
Crews will spend several months removing old paint from the bridges and adding a fresh coat, which will protect the steel from corrosion.
