OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The state Senate has OK’d a bill for graduating students to take a so-called “bridge year.”
The bill would allow students set to graduate this year or next to stay in school for another year to catch up on learning and participate in extracurricular activities they missed during coronavirus-related school shutdowns.
It now heads to the House for consideration.
Under the proposal, students who have met graduation requirements could defer their graduation and pursue a bridge year.
That would allow them to retake classes and boost grades that may have faltered during the pandemic.
