BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Outreach continues to persons impacted by a city-set deadline next Tuesday for campers to vacate the illegal tent site at Civic Athletic complex.
Hans Erchinger-Davis is Executive Director of the Lighthouse Mission Basecamp on Cornwall and reports open capacity of 40 vacant beds as of Wednesday.
He says outreach efforts started that day at the camp and will continue through today.
Erchinger-Davis said Base Camp staff help their clients access housing, employment, medical care, treatment for substance use support, mental health care and more.
Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood has said the camp at Geri Field will be closed as of next Tuesday.
Social media posts for the group Bellingham Occupied Protest Mutual Aid have promised a noisy march through Fleetwood’s South Hill neighborhood tomorrow (sat).
