BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Local officials are speaking out against hate crimes and bias incidents.
Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood and Bellingham Police Chief Flo Simon released a video in response to recent acts of discrimination affecting the Asian and Pacific Islander communities across the nation.
Both emphasize that hate is not welcome in Bellingham and urge community members to report such incidents to authorities immediately.
For those who are hesitant to call 911, Chief Simon suggests another resource.
Chief Simon suggested another resource for those hesitant to call 911: call the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center, go through the Safe Spaces program to report it and they will get the report to BPD.
