MOUNT VERNON, Wash. —  Home prices aren’t just soaring in Whatcom County — Skagit County is also experiencing rapid price increases.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the median closing price for a home sold in Skagit County has increased 27% percent over the previous March.

The median price has risen to $485,000 in Skagit County, compared to $506,000 in neighboring Whatcom County.

The number of active listings in Skagit County declined drastically, down 62% from March 2020.

High demand is driving the shortage of homes, leading to bidding wars and multiple offers.
