OLYMPIA, Wash. — A measure allowing farmworkers overtime pay has passed the state House.
The House voted 91-7 Friday to approve the bill that also provides protections for farmers from retroactive overtime pay lawsuits.
Starting in 2022, farmworkers will be paid overtime after 55 hours in a week.
The threshold drops to 48 hours in 2023 and then to 40 hours in 2024.
The state Senate approved a companion bill last month.
The legislation now heads to Governor Inslee for his signature.
