MAPLE FALLS, Wash. —Â Deputies responded to a potentially dangerous situation following reports of gunshots. loud music, and yelling in a Maple Falls neighborhood early Tuesday.
A sheriff’s spokesperson says deputies kept a safe distance and observed 38-year-old Edgar Asencio walking around a bonfire, yelling and growling, and randomly firing a handgun at the fire or a nearby woodpile.
At one point he grabbed a rifle from his residence, then left in one of his vehicles.
Deputies deployed an armored vehicle and spike strips nearby and were able to apprehend Ascencio after a brief confrontation.
Asencio was booked into jail for two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the 1st Degree and Reckless Endangerment.
No one was harmed, and Acensio’s wife and three children were found safe inside the residence.
