BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A grisly discovery on Hannegan Road in Bellingham

Officers responding to reports of a traffic hazard between Sunset and Bakerview found two dead calves in the road just after midnight on Wednesday.

Both calves were missing their heads.

Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy says they don’t know if the calves suffered natural deaths and the heads were removed before they were dumped or whether something “more sinister” occurred.

The Humane Society assisted in removing the carcasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bellingham Police.
