OLYMPIA, Wash. —Â Washington will be the first state to ensure legal representation to low-income tenants facing eviction.
Governor Jay Inslee has signed a new law that will provide attorneys to tenants who are facing financial hardship or mental illness.
Several cities, including Seattle have already passed right to counsel laws, and other states are considering similar measures.
