OLYMPIA, Wash. — With spring in full bloom, Washington Labor and Industries is warning homeowners of a seasonal scam.

The department says costly paving scams are popping up already this year in Washington State.

It goes like this: contractors show up at a home owner’s door, unsolicited, offering to pave the driveway.

They typically claim to have leftover asphalt from a nearby job and offer a one-time deal that’s too good to pass up.

Some swindles have been reported in the thousands of dollars this year.
