BIRCH BAY, Wash. — In order to make bike riding a bit safer this spring and summer, Whatcom Smart Trips is offering a free bike skills course this Friday from 2 to 4pm in Birch Bay.
A traffic garden will be set up at the Birch Bay Activities Center where everyone can practice the skills needed to ride on city streets.
Other activities will teach kids how to check their bikes before each ride, pump their tires, start and stop with control and fit their helmets properly.
Bring your own bike and plan for at least 30 minutes at the course.
Each participating child will be given a blinking safety clip light.
Pre-registration is recommended.
