BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman is sentenced to 17 years in prison for the stabbing death of her father.
She pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder in Whatcom Superior Court and was sentenced Monday.
Court documents state 34-year-old Kali M. McConnell had a complicated relationship with her father, 57-year-old Dale Henefin, and had grown angry about his drug use and choice of companions.
The stabbing occurred during an argument that escalated at Henefin’s house on April 22, 2020.
A man McConnell had arrived with swore at her when she lit a cigarette and Henefin objected.
The two men fought and McConnell became involved as did Henefin’s partner.
The fight culminated with the stabbing and Henefin later died at the hospital.
