BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Recent COVID-19 hospitalization rates in Whatcom County remain high despite falling case rates.
The Whatcom County Health Department calculated case rates and hospitalization for both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people and found between April 3 and May 29, there were 103 COVID hospitalizations of unvaccinated people, and 1 hospitalization of a fully vaccinated person.
The health department and PeaceHealth jointly released a video with a PeaceHealth COVID unit doctor and nurse emphasizing the crucial role of vaccination, calling it the best way to stay safe from severe cases of COVID-19.
