The Department of Labor and Industries issued a hazard alert Wednesday calling on employers to be on the look out for heat-related illnesses in employees.
The hazard alert reinforces emergency outdoor exposure rules, requiring employers to provide regular rest periods, access to shade and hydration, and other proactive steps.
It also reminds workers of key things to watch out for and steps to take to prevent heat-related illness.
The emergency rules were filed last Friday by L & I, and update existing rules that are annually in place from May through September.
