WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The general election ballot is becoming clearer following the first count in the Tuesday August 3rd primary.
For Whatcom County Council, it appears Kaylee Galloway and Eddy Ury will face-off in District 1 while incumbent Tyler Byrd will be challenged by Rebecca Lewis in District 3.
At-Large incumbent Barry Buchanan will face Kamal Bhachu.
For Port of Bellingham District 2 Commissioner, incumbent Ken Bell and Kelly Krieger are the likely finalists.
Kristina Michele Martens will face Russ Whidbee for the Bellingham City Council At-Large position.
The primary for a Blaine City Council race is too close to call with Barbara Sturdivant, Eric Davidson and Jennifer L. Plombon all within a few percentage points of each other in the Ward 3 race.
Rhyan Lopez and Colin Hawkins will vie for the Ward 2 seat.
In Ferndale, incumbent Kate Bishop will likely face Robert Pinkley for Position 6.
Fire District levies were also on some primary ballots.
Propositions in Districts 1, 16 and South Whatcom appear to be passing while those in District 4 and 21 are being rejected.
The Auditor’s office has about 2000 ballots left to count and will release another tally today at 5 p.m.
