If you love kids, sports and staying active you might want to consider officiating high school sports.
The Whatcom Skagit Island Football Officials Association is recruiting new members to wear the zebra stripes on the football field this season.
Association Assigner Pete Lockhart says they provide all the classroom and on-field training and anyone can do it.
“For those who say I’ve never done it, I’d love to but I’ve never played the game, that’s not a problem,” says Lockhart. “We’re there to train and help mentor officials of all ability levels to get out on the field and take part.”
And it’s not just a boys club.
“Women that would want to come out to join us, we’d love to have them,” says Lockhart. “We don’t just say it’s only for the boys. Nope. Women can do it just as well if not better.”
