WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – State Department of Agriculture sleuths are tracking two murder hornets in hopes of finding their nest.
Traps near Blaine captured two live Asian giant hornets last Thursday and Friday just after the first live sighting was confirmed in the area.
They were able to fit both captured hornets with radio transmitters then sent them off after treating them to a strawberry jam meal.
The transmitters will send signals for up to two weeks.
You can see what an Asian giant hornet nest looks like at the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden where the one that was found and eradicated near Blaine is on display.
