WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Love French fries, baked or other types of potatoes? Hug a potato farmer.

And the Washington State Potato Commission says you might not have to look too hard to find one in Whatcom County.

The county is one of the top ten potato growing counties in Washington.

Skagit County is another while the rest are in the south central part of the state.

The commission says the potato industry accounts for 36,000 jobs and 99% of the farms are family owned.
