NISQUALLY INDIAN COMMUNITY, Wash. – A western Washington tribe has closed its quarantine facility for members infected with COVID 19 because of on-line claims that it was a concentration camp for unvaccinated people.

The Nisqually Tribe has housed about 30 people in the cabins and RVs on its property throughout the pandemic so they could keep from infecting their families.

But Tribal Chairman Willie Frank III tells KING 5 that they evacuated the people currently there after it was mischaracterized on-line and one said it should be burned.

“We weren’t bothering anyone out here,” says Frank. “The Nisqually Tribe was out here taking care of our people like we do. And now look where we’re at.”

He says they’re now putting those seven people up in a hotel and won’t use the facility again until it’s safe.

The tribe says they, like so many other communities, are getting hit hard by the delta variant.
