WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Home prices were just as hot as the weather in Whatcom County in the third quarter of 2021.

Troy Muljat with the Muljat Group of Realtors says prices are through the roof with the median price in Bellingham up 17% at $645,000.

Prices were also up sharply in other parts of the county, and Muljat says many sellers can expect to get more than they’re asking for.

“We continue to move well above the list price,” says Muljat. “And specifically in Bellingham, the primary market homes sell fast and above the list price.”

And they don’t have to wait long for a property to sell.

“Less than a week is the median time that a home will sell,” says Muljat. “There’s still some that will sit on the market longer and keep the average up. But most homes in that median price range are selling quickly.”

He says a low number of homes is helping drive prices higher, as is the fact that Whatcom County is a relative bargain compared to Seattle and other markets.
