Washington’s first Native American federal judge confirmed

Washington’s first Native American federal judge has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Lauren King, a member of the Muscogee Nation in Oklahoma, will be working for the US District Court in Western Washington.

Q13 says that King previously served as a judge for the Northwest Intertribal Court System, and also taught tribal law at the Seattle University School of Law.

King is now one of four confirmed Native American federal judges in the country.
