WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Realty companies say property values continue to increase in Whatcom County and new numbers from the County Assessor back that up.

Rebecca Xczar says her office found total property values increased almost 13% this year.

They inspected properties in the Birchwood, Cordata, King Mountain, Alabama Hill and North Lake Whatcom neighborhoods and on the Lummi peninsula.

They use those assessments to estimate the market value of the rest of the county’s properties.

Assessment notices were mailed on October 8th and she stresses that they’re not tax bills and don’t reflect a proportional increase in property taxes.
