MARIETTA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol is recommending a charge of vehicular assault against a young Bellingham woman who caused a head-on crash at about 11:30 Friday night.

Troopers say 19-year-old Lea Serena-Gole was impaired while driving an SUV south on Bancroft Road in the Marietta area.

She failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the center line, crashing head-on into a Jeep going north.

Both the 26-year-old Bellingham woman driving the Jeep and Serena-Gole were injured.
