PORT ANGELES, Wash. – A federal jury has convicted a former Port Angeles naturopath for falsely claiming that his own medication would cure and prevent COVID-19 and other viral illnesses.
The U.S. Attorney in Seattle says 68-year-old Richard Marschall claimed in Facebook posts that his “Dynamic Duo” drug would “crush” the coronavirus, other viruses and bacterial infections including MRSA.
Marschall told an undercover investigator in March 2020 that the combination of garlic and larch tree starch killed the virus and boosted a person’s immune system.
He charged the agent $140 plus shipping for the treatment.
Marschall also claimed to be a retired naturopath but the state had revoked his license in 2018.
He was also convicted of misbranding drugs in 2011 and 2017, and faces up to three years in prison for this conviction.
