Two U.S. Representatives from Washington are demanding that Customs and Border Protection apologize for the detention of Iranian Americans at the border in Blaine in 2020.

Susan DelBene and Pramila Jayapal made the demand in a letter to acting CBP Commissioner Troy Miller.

More than 80 U.S. citizens and legal residents of Iranian descent were held for up to 10 hours for increased questioning as they returned from Canada on January 5, 2020.

That was just after a drone strike killed a prominent Iranian general the U.S. accused of plotting terror attacks.

Along with an apology, the lawmakers want a full accounting of what happened at the border and a commitment to policy changes by the department.
