OLYMPIA, Wash. – Just wrong.
That’s what Governor Jay Inslee’s office calls former Washington State University football coach Nick Rolovich’s statements about his firing over his refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Rolovich claims in his 34-page appeal letter to the university that Athletic Director Pat Chun declared in a conversation in August that the governor established the mandate “just to come after Coach Rolovich and WSU.”
The coach was fired in October for not complying with the governor’s order that all state employees be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Health is applauding a milestone in getting COVID-19 vaccines into arms in Washington.
It’s announced that 10 million doses have been administered since immunizations began in December 2020.
State Health Secretary Dr. Umar Shah calls the recent decision allowing children 5 to 11 to be vaccinated a “great relief.”
He urges parents to talk with their pediatricians with questions about the vaccines and to schedule appointments.
