EVERETT, Wash. – Boeing takes full responsibility for the crash of a 737 Max jet in Ethiopia in a legal agreement it’s reached with the victims’ families.
The crash in March 2019 claimed 157 lives.
In the agreement, Boeing admits that its flight control system was to blame for the plane’s loss of control and destruction, and that the 737-Max was in an “unsafe condition” to fly.
The agreement absolves the pilots and manufacturers of parts and software for the system of responsibility.
It does not spell out financial compensation but allows the families to bring individual claims in U.S. courts.
The company fixed the 737-Max and it was certified to return to service this year.
