BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Historic flooding has caused a host of issues for drivers over the past 48 hours and emergency officials are asking people to stay home if possible.
I-5 is now closed northbound in Ferndale and the southbound lanes there are expected to close soon.
There’s a detour there at Slater Road.
Overnight, I-5 was shut down in both directions from Nulle Road to North Lake Samish as crews monitored landslides and floodwaters.
Southbound I-5 is now open, but the northbound lanes remain closed due to the active threat of landslides.
There’s a detour on East Lake Samish Drive but that route is down to a single lane alternating.
The I-5 NB off ramp at Iowa St is still closed, as is the on ramp to I-5 north from Main St in Ferndale.
