MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – A driver was lucky to escape with minor injuries after their car was crushed by a semi on I-5 in Mount Vernon.
The accident occurred on the northbound side of the Skagit River bridge Tuesday morning around 10:45.
Trooper Rocky Oliphant said on Twitter that a car was hit from behind by a semi.
The force of the impact folded the car in half and the truck came to rest on top of it.
Both sides of I-5 were closed on the bridge for over an hour to extricate the vehicles.
Neither driver was seriously hurt.
There’s really not a word to describe this collision. Miraculously believed to be minor injuries. The car was struck from behind, folded the car in half, and semi came to rest on top of the car. In my 14 year career, I have never seen anything like it. https://t.co/iUsSNIhHYV pic.twitter.com/EPGI70s3Um
