WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Hundreds of volunteers spent hours of their weekend helping people impacted by the flood to begin the hard work of recovering.

Teams worked for hours both Saturday and Sunday clearing damaged and destroyed belongings from dozens of homes in Sumas, Everson and Nooksack.

Everson Police say in a post that trained volunteers were scheduled to arrive Sunday, November 21st, to begin demolition of drywall, floors, insulation, and ductwork.

Whatcom County has opened a new staffed site for flood debris west of Sumas at 3010 Halverstick Road.

Residents can drop off items from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until further notice.
