BELLINGHAM, Wash. – COVID-19 cases are spiking at the Whatcom County Jail.
Corrections Chief Wendy Jones said in a statement that an inmate initially tested positive on November 23rd after experiencing symptoms.
Since then, 10 more inmates and two staff members also tested positive for COVID-19.
An additional 27 inmates were moved into quarantine as a result of the recent cases.
Chief Jones adds that the cases appear to be mild among those who are infected and no one has been hospitalized as a result.
The Whatcom County Health Department is assisting in tracking down the source of the outbreak.
