OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington will soon reap the benefits of the new federal infrastructure law.

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene announced Thursday, December 16th, that the state will receive nearly $900 million in funding to improve highway infrastructure under the newly-signed bipartisan infrastructure law.

Most of that funding will go towards repairing bridges and roads across the state, which have gotten poor ratings from experts in recent years.

The American Society of Civil Engineers reported finding 416 bridges and 5400 miles of highway were in poor condition in a 2019 report.

DelBene added that strengthening infrastructure now will prepare the region for the next 50 years.
