SEATTLE, Wash. – A young member of the Nooksack Tribe will spend three-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting an underage girl.

The U.S. Attorney in Seattle says 22-year-old Kamron Dylan Duane Cooper was indicted in 2020 and pleaded guilty in June.

An investigation found that Cooper groomed a 13-year-old girl and persuaded her to engage in sexual activity on the Lummi Reservation.

He was on supervised release at the time for sexually assaulting two 14-year-old girls when he was a juvenile.

He’ll be on supervised release for 15 years and undergo sex offender treatment after he serves the prison term.
