WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Whatcom County Chief Deputy Kevin Hester has retired.

Sheriff Bill Elfo said in a Facebook post that Wednesday, December 22nd, was Hester’s last day in the department.

Hester has supervised or commanded the Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force for much of his more than thirty-year career.

Sheriff Elfo credits him with the success the task force is known for statewide.

Hester won’t be retiring to a life of leisure though, as he was just elected in November to be the next mayor of the City of Nooksack.
