WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A local farming advocacy group is calling for Whatcom County to create changes to its water storage infrastructure.
Whatcom Family Farmers wants issues such as water storage, river sediment removal, levy and other waterway improvements, as well as protection of all farmlands, addressed.
Rich Appel of Whatcom Family Farmers says there is no single fix and they are looking at all possible fixes.
Farmlands were not only affected by the November floods, but also low stream levels caused by a draught months earlier.
