WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Roads are treacherous this morning, Thursday, January 6th, following last night’s snowstorm.
The National Weather Service in Seattle said earlier this week that the storm was expected to drop 4-8 inches of snow by this morning.
I-5 and other major routes are slow going and very slick.
Side roads throughout Whatcom County are impassable and collisions are causing back ups.
A warm-up is expected later today, but snow is turning to freezing rain in some areas, making traveling even more hazardous.
County Director of Emergency Management John Gargett is urging people to stay at home unless travel is absolutely necessary.
